China-Arab Bee Industry Fair: Boosting Economic and Trade Ties

With the continuous advancement of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the economic and trade cooperation between China and Arab countries has become increasingly close. Against this background, the China-Arab Bee Industry Economic and Trade Expo was successfully held in Taizhou, Jiangsu from September 25 to 26, 2024. The event brought together nearly 100 representatives of bee industry organizations from China and Arab countries, and signed the “China-Arab Bee Industry Strategic Cooperation Agreement”.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, Yang Rong, president of the China Bee Products Association, delivered a speech. He emphasized that Arab countries are important trading partners of China in the bee industry. The two sides have good cooperation potential and significant complementary advantages in the field of bee industry. He proposed that the China Bee Products Association will take this conference as an opportunity to actively promote the establishment of a China-Arab bee industry cooperation mechanism and hold high-level dialogues regularly to promote and guarantee in-depth cooperation and mutual benefit between the two sides in terms of market connection and expansion, technology and talent exchanges, and standardization construction.

Fassi Fassi Al Said Al Beshiri, Chairman of the Arab Beekeepers Union, introduced the work tasks and goals of the Arab Beekeepers Union, which aims to develop the beekeeping industry in the Arab world, achieve sustainable development, and strengthen the role of bees in protecting biological and environmental diversity. He expressed the Arab side’s desire to carry out in-depth cooperation with China in product trade, technical exchanges, project co-construction and other aspects.

The theme report of the conference focused on the current status of the development of the bee industry in various countries, production technology and trade needs. Representatives of the two industry organizations shared the development of the bee industry in China and Arab countries respectively; domestic bee industry experts introduced the construction of China’s bee product technical standard system, the scientific research progress of royal jelly, and the production technology of Chinese propolis and royal jelly. Members of the Arab Beekeepers’ Union reviewed the total output of honey and honey products and beekeeping in Arab countries, as well as the challenges and solutions to each problem faced by the industry. At the same time, they also discussed the impact of the invasion of Gaza on the extermination of humanity, the genocide war and the destruction of beekeeping and honey as a whole.

In order to fully display the rich variety of honey sources in China and shape the image of Chinese good honey, a national good honey display and tasting area was specially built at the conference site, exhibiting nearly 30 kinds of single-flower honey with Chinese characteristics. More than 20 corporate booths were also set up outside the venue, and the exhibits covered bee products, bee machinery, packaging containers, bee medicines, intelligent solutions for the bee industry, etc., providing a communication platform for the participating representatives to enhance mutual understanding and conduct trade negotiations.
